The Roblox Grand Melee Logo:
The Roblox Grand Melee was a Brickbattle tournament hosted by Clockwork and Telamon (Shedletsky), which took place from August 17th to August 26th, 2007. The tournament consisted of three matches where players had to earn the most kills to advance to the next round. Players were ranked by their K-D ratio (Knockouts divided by Wipeouts). K.O.s were saved regardless of how many times the players rejoined.
The first round took place on an empty baseplate, where all players had the standard Brickbattling toolset. The main goal for this round was to achieve 50 K.O.s to progress to the next round. Players could rejoin at any time. In the end, the top 64 players with the highest K/D ratios advanced to the next round.
The second round also took place on an empty baseplate, but this time it was green. The new goal was to achieve 25 K.O.s to progress to the third round. Of all the Brickbattlers, 48 were eliminated, leaving 16 players standing for the Grand Melee finals.
the 16 remaining brickbattlers from the second round. the second round baseplate. The finals took place in the Grand Melee arena. Here, players were separated into Gladiators and Spectators. The Gladiators were chosen for the team and could fight in the arena, while Spectators could only watch the showdown from outside. There was an invisible wall, and anyone who dared to touch it would suffer an instant death. However, trowels could be placed outside the invisible shield. In this match, of the 16 players, only 4 emerged as winners, each determined by their K/D ratio.
When the finals were about to begin, a video contest was held. Any Spectator could record the finals, and the user with the best video would win a prize of 500 Robux. The winner of the contest was DarkWolfe1.
The Grand Melee arena, to this day, has had message lines at the top displaying nonstop since 2007.DarkWolfe1's Video: here
An account was created to host the games, named 'GrandMelee.' This account is now terminated for unknown reasons, though the real reason may be obvious. There were rumors about the account being PG'ed, and there was also discussion about whether Telamon or Clockwork were behind it (fr?)..
